We decided a professional landscape architect would do the best job

When Bent and Andrea built their home, using the expertise of a landscape architect didn't even cross their minds.

A few years after the completion of their house they wanted a complete garden re-design. They also needed structural works added such as retaining walls and refitting services around the swimming pool. They decided a professional landscape architect would do the best job.

"We obviously had some thought about what the garden should look like. But we wanted a design architect to maximise the potential for our garden landscape design".

Being married to a landscape architect has its benefits!

Cassie was faced with having a relatively small garden that had to fulfil her families many functions, Cassie deferred to her husband. "Being married to a landscape architect has to have its benefits," she laughs.

The complete size of the back garden was 20 metres by 8 meters and a lot was expected from this small garden space.

"Basically I wanted a garden entertainment area that was child friendly without the clutter of toys and play apparatuses".

Yes, quite the order for a small space garden. However David, being the landscape architect of Entrenched Landscapes & Designs decided to split the garden into levels to allow for the incorporation of all required garden areas.

Small but perfectly formed

"It was originally a flat garden design and only really good for the children to play. But the new landscaped garden design allows for all the family to make good use of the space, "said Cassie.

All the play equipment is in the back corner of the garden and is screened by garden plants, "This means I can still watch them play, but the backyard is no longer dominated by the play equipment," she added.

"The garden plants look established which suits the older style of the house. The new outdoor garden space has totally changed the way the family interacts in the garden, the adults can entertain in the landscaped outdoor garden entertaining area while the children can play, it truly is the best of both worlds".

A landscaped garden for specific needs

Entrenched Landscapes & Design worked closely with the retired owners of this house to develop a landscaped garden design that was in keeping with the house and reflected it in its best light.

The owner's main concern was that the finished landscape had low garden maintenance with disabled access. They wanted a natural look with a native plant theme. Entrenched Landscapes & Design created them a garden design that worked with the landscaped contours of their sloping block and met all their specifications.

When we had finished the garden makeover, the owner had a low maintenance garden equipped with landscape irrigation. The couple utilised the garden maintenance services that Entrenched Landscape & Design have to offer, the team visits the garden once a month for all pruning, weeding and fertilising needs.

The front entrance has a huge impact upon visitors and for Jeanette her garden wasn't communicating what she wanted.

Make an entrance

The family had the courtyard cleared and an existing garden pond removed. Modern Stainless steel tanks, with waterfall and ornamental features, replaced the old garden pond.

"We also had a lot of paving, concrete and structural work done as the house has underground storage that extends out and under the courtyard".

"The final landscape construction has given the whole house a different feel, it has a real impact upon our visitors. We receive a lot of positive comments on the landscaped improvements and the modern look.
